Long ago I used to find that reading a physics text book could put me to sleep very quickly, but I haven't tried that in years. <BR/>I found that some foods and drinks made it worse though. In the end I stayed up till I felt ready for bed and then each night tried to bring it forward a half hour. I also didn't do anything that used my brain (oh, I really want to put a man-joke in here) for a few hors before bed so I could start to wind down.
